Farewell to our President

It is with the highest regard and admiration we say farewell to Captain John Smith, “Smitty”, Cranston Police Department (Retired) as longstanding President of the Rhode Island Police Officers Emerald Society. President Smith’s tenure reflects a period of unconditional devotion, relentless commitment, and entertainment. His unselfish service and allegiance to this society is the basis for our existence today. Captain Smith’s tireless efforts can only be described as extraordinary, given the organizational challenges we faced over the years. His good cheer and love of police work served as a constant inspiration and appeal to recognize the men and women in blue. President Smith not only served as our President but also as a dear friend, confidant, and mentor to many members. Regardless of how you felt when you arrived at meetings you always department with laughter in your heart and pride in your heritage. In addition to being our monthly meeting personality, President Smith represented the society with great distinction, pride, and notable appearance; wearing his signature wardrobe. Smitty is a true ambassador that will never dampen his enthusiasm with his departure as President. I am certain he will remain a resounding voice for years to come. We all wish you the best Smitty and remind you that if your get wrestles as a spectator, we will gladly hand you the microphone until the Sergeant-at-Arms removes you. I also want to acknowledge the commitment of Vice Presidents Michael Moura and Michael Limoge.
